More About The Chainsmokers
Describing themselves as “wise beyond their years and aggressively handsome,” the Chainsmokers are an American DJ duo that consist of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. First forming in 2012 under the management of Adam Alpert, the Chainsmokers are best known for their 2014 single, “#Selfie,” which peaked at No. 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 11 on the UK Singles Chart and was picked up by Republic Records. It’s been compared to the viral impact of “Harlem Shake” by Baauer.
The Chainsmokers’ signature sound has its roots in Indie, progressive and pop music. Their original tracks have reached the Beatport top charts, and their remixes have hit number one on the HypeM charts.
The Chainsmokers first started out by making remixes of indie bands. And in 2012, they collaborated with Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra on the single “Erase.” This was then followed by “The Rookie” in early 2013. This was followed by “#Selfie,” which is a song containing monologue from a female clubber about taking good selfies and was inspired by the fact that “selfie” had become a common term. And in 2014, they released “Kanye,” featuring sirenXX.
In 2015, the Chainsmokers released their first EP, titled Bouquet. This featured “New York City, “Until You Were Gone,” “Waterbed,” “Good Intentions,” and “Roses.” They then had a follow-up single in 2016 called “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring the singer Daya. This was followed by the single, “Inside Out,” featuring the Austrian singer Charlee.
So far in 2016, they’ve released “Closer,” featuring the singer Halsey. This peaked at No. 1 on the US Hot 100 and UK Singles Charts. They are currently on tour in the United States.
