Tom Brady: Greatest Quarterback of All-Time?

John Elway, Steve Young, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana or……Tom Brady? These are the quarterbacks many believe are in the discussion for greatest quarterback of all-time. You can argue that any of these signal callers are well deserving of the title, but Tom Brady may just have an edge over them all. Tom Brady has given reason to believe that maybe there is only one answer to the question, “Who is the greatest quarterback of all-time?”

After a successful college career in Ann Arbor, Brady was largely overlooked in the 2000 NFL draft. Even though he put up great numbers at Michigan, six other quarterbacks would hear their name called before Tom at the draft. In the sixth round with pick number 199, the New England Patriots would select Tom Brady and the rest is history.

When Tom was drafted the Patriots already had a franchise quarterback in Drew Bledsoe, but little did they know that arguably the best QB the league would ever see was riding their bench. In 2001, Brady’s second season, he would get his chance to show his stuff after Bledsoe went down with an injury. Tom would lead the Patriots into the post-season where he would win his very first playoff game against the Oakland Raiders. The very controversial “tuck rule” came into play during this game, helping the Patriots seal a win in overtime. After a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship game the Patriots and Brady would take on the largely favored St. Louis Rams and the “Greatest Show on Turf” for Super Bowl XXXVI. Tom would navigate his team late in the 4th quarter on a drive that ended with an Adam Vinatieri field goal to win the Super Bowl. This would be Tom’s first of many appearances in the Super Bowl and the beginning of his historic career.

Over the next fourteen seasons, Tom Brady would make it back to the Super Bowl five more times, winning four Lombardi trophies in his six attempts. He would be named Super Bowl MVP three times and League MVP twice. Tom would go on to win 13 division titles, be selected to the Pro Bowl 11 times, and post a playoff record of 22-9. At 38 and with two years left on his contract, Brady still has time to further his legacy. Even if Tom Brady is never heralded as the best quarterback of all-time, his accomplishments easily make him the greatest draft pick of all-time.
